Stabilisation of the Critically Ill Child Study Day on Wednesday 16 February 2022

This online event aims to enhance the skills of multi-disciplinary teams from hospitals throughout the region who are involved in the stabilisation and management of critically ill children. The day is delivered through presentations and talks from expert Consultants and focuses on Stabilisation of the critically Ill Child.

Stabilisation of the Critically Ill Child (Venue based course)

The course aims to enhance the skills of multi-disciplinary teams from hospitals throughout the region who are involved in the stabilisation and management of critically ill children.

Who is the course suitable for
​
Team based (eight teams per course and up to five people per team). Team members should include:
  • one anaesthetist
  • one paediatric doctor
  • one senior nurse
  • one junior nurse or doctor
  • one optional choice.

Course aims and learning outcomes
The course aims to cover:
  • the blue baby
  • management of the septic child
  • waiting for the retrieval team
  • management of the child with a difficult airways
  • traumatic brain injury
  • use of intraosseous needles
  • melbourne strapping technique
  • ventilation workshop
  • scenario workshops.

By attending in multi-disciplinary teams, you will be able to undertake the scenarios whilst fulfilling your normal clinical roles with your own work colleagues.

By the end of this course, you will be able to demonstrate a greater understanding of the management of critically ill children prior to the arrival of the PICU retrieval team.

On successful completion of the course you will receive PIER certification.

Course duration
One day.


Course fee
£15 per person with teams of five, making the total price per team £75.
Lunch, refreshments and parking are included.

Cancellation policy
No refund will be given if cancellation is within one month of course start date.
