• Southampton Childrens Hospital Long Term Ventilation Team support and care for children from birth to 18 years old who require Long term ventilation. (LTV) This could be tracheostomy invasive ventilation (TIV) or non-invasive ventilation (NIV). Children/young people commence LTV either acutely following inability to wean from ventilation or electively often following sleep study investigations. 

    The team have created education videos to support healthcare professionals caring for children on LTV. We have added a selection of additional resources that we feel are of value to teams caring for children on LTV. These resources are intended for healthcare professionals.

    Practitioners should always refer to their local guidance if planning to use them in their own service. For parents and caregivers please contact your tertiary centre for advice.
