  • Module 1a - Basic Sleep Know How

    This module provides a basic scientific understanding of sleep and its importance to child health and development as well as family wellbeing. We include a practical session on promoting evidenced based good sleep habits. 
    Date - Monday 3rd March and Tuesday 4th March 2025
    Time - 0900 - 1300 hrs each day (8 hours total)
    Delivery - Zoom

    Cost - £160 per person
    Course content:
    • Children’s sleep problems in a family context
    • Science of Sleep – understanding the mysteries of sleep 
    • Why children sleep -  the role of sleep in childhood 
    • Culture and Sleep – sleep around the world 
    • Fundamentals of Sleep Hygiene – providing advice based on science not ‘hearsay’

    ​Aimed at professionals that work in the field of paediatrics.  To be eligible for this programme, you need to be working in the statutory sector (NHS or public organisation). 

    It can be taken as a stand-alone course and requires no pre-requisites but is also a foundation for later specialist modules.
    If you are a registered member of the British Sleep Society, you are eligible for £25 off the price of Module 1.  When completing your booking form, please provide your membership number for confirmation.

  • Module 1b - Sleep Basics for Everyday Practice

    This module offers a simplified overview of the science of sleep and its importance for child health and development as well as family wellbeing. 

    It offers the same practical session on promoting evidenced based good sleep habits as module 1A but also provides a rapid overview of sleep disorders. The focus is identifying ‘red flags’ for sleep disorders that might need referral for further assessment.

    Date - Wednesday 2nd April 2025
    Time - 0900-1700hrs
    Location - Virtual (via Zoom)
    Cost - £150 per person (group discounts are available for groups over 10 people)
    ​​Aimed at professionals that work in the field of paediatrics.  To be eligible for this programme, you need to be working in the statutory sector (NHS or public organisation). 

    Following completion of this one day course, if you have gained an appetite to know more about sleep, you may wish to book onto our modular programme. You would receive a discounted rate of £75 to attend Core Module 1.

  • Module 2 - Disorders of Sleep

    This module develops your understanding of sleep disorders in childhood (based on the international classification of sleep disorders III). It focuses on treatment by the MDT at secondary care paediatric level and when to refer for specialist advise.
    Date - Monday Monday 12th May and Tuesday 13th May 2025
    Time - 0900 - 1400 hrs each day (10 hours total)
    Delivery - Zoom

    Cost - £195 per person
    Course content:
    • Core Sleep Disorders and their treatments (e.g. disorders of hypersomnolence, movement disorders, circadian rhythm disorders; chronic insomnia; sleep related breathing disorders)
    • Measuring Sleep
    • Use of medication in sleep ​​

  • Module 3 - Managing Sleep Problems in Neurodevelopmental Disorders

    This module develops your understanding of childhood sleep disorders in the context of common neurodevelopmental disorders.  It addresses the specific challenges of managing sleep disorders in these children.
    Date - Monday 2nd June and Wednesday 4th June 2025
    Time - 0900 - 1400 hrs each day (10 hours total)
    Delivery - Zoom

    • Sleep and ASD
    • Sleep and children with ADHD
    • Sleep in Children with Down syndrome
    • Syndrome specific sleep problems in children with rare neurodevelopmental disorders
    • Sleep and Epilepsy
    • Sleep and pain in non-verbal children​ ​​
    ​Aimed at professionals that work in the field of paediatrics.

  • Module 4 - Managing Sleep in Children with Physical Disability and Sensory Impairment

    This module develops your understanding of how to manage sleep disorders in childhood in the context of children with motor disorders usch as cerebral palsy.  It addresses the specific challenges of managing sleep comfort in these children.
    Date - Monday 29th September and Wednesday 1st October 2025
    Time - 0900 - 1400 hrs each day (10 hours total)
    Delivery - Zoom

    • Prevalence predictors and impact of sleep problems in children with physical disabilities
    • How do co-morbidities and their care impact on sleep
    • Thermoregulation and sleep
    • Respiratory Challenges and their treatments

  • Module 5 - Managing Chronic Insomnia

    This module allows you to develop confidence in a practical approach to childhood chronic insomnia, honing your skills in sleep assessment and developing personalised sleep programmes. 
    Date - Tuesday 4th November and Wednesday 5th November 2025
    Time - 0900 - 1400 hrs each day (10 hours total)
    Delivery - Zoom

Unfortunately, cancellations made within 2 weeks before course start date will incur full costs and are not transferable.

Payment or invoice information must be received at least 6 weeks in advance. We will contact you 8 weeks prior to the course and if no response or payment information is provided your place(s) will be released to others on our waiting list.
