This module provides a basic scientific understanding of sleep and its importance to child health and development as well as family wellbeing. We include a practical session on promoting evidenced based good sleep habits.Date - Wednesday 4th March and Thursday 5th March 2026

Aimed at professionals that work in the field of paediatrics. To be eligible for this programme, you need to be working in the statutory sector (NHS or public organisation).
It can be taken as a stand-alone course and requires no pre-requisites but is also a foundation for later specialist modules.Module 1b - Sleep Basics for Everyday Practice
This module offers a simplified overview of the science of sleep and its importance for child health and development as well as family wellbeing.
It offers the same practical session on promoting evidenced based good sleep habits as module 1A but also provides a rapid overview of sleep disorders. The focus is identifying ‘red flags’ for sleep disorders that might need referral for further assessment. Date - Wednesday 1st April 2026
Time - 0900-1700hrs

This module develops your understanding of sleep disorders in childhood (based on the international classification of sleep disorders III). It focuses on treatment by the MDT at secondary care paediatric level and when to refer for specialist advise.Date - Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th may 2026

This module develops your understanding of how to manage sleep disorders in childhood in the context of children with motor disorders usch as cerebral palsy. It addresses the specific challenges of managing sleep comfort in these children.Date - Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th September 2026
