We are pleased to let you know that we are in a position to restart PREP training virtually to comply with social distancing. For PREP 3 this will be the Conflict Resolution day on May 27th and for all other programmes will commence in June. We have found that the virtually run hospital based education programmes have been really well received and attended an hope this will be the same for PREP.
Programmes will need a small amount of modification for example we are working on how we deliver simulation in an interactive and meaningful way. We still plan to have those programmes that are trainee led trainee led and the respective consultant lead for the PREP programme will support where required. Do please make suggestions on how things might run. Recognising how challenging the situation has and will continue to be for you all with the impact of COVID on you as individuals, teams and your education we know peer support will be valued. As such we will be building in time on each day for peer support and discussion.
Login/joining details will be shared with the individual PREP groups ahead of the days as well as on the PREP pages. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch with you respective PREP leads.
Thank you again for all your hard work, flexibility and support to each other.
PREP 1.2 (ST2 and ST3 Trainees)
The PREP 1.2 programme expands upon PREP 1.1 and aims to prepare trainees for taking the next step to becoming registrars. The day is planned and organised by the Trainee Leads, Gen, Hannah, Celia & Annelies, under the watchful eye of Dr Hawkins and Dr Grainger-Allen, Consultant leads. Teaching is held on the second Tuesday of every month.
Each month has a paediatric sub-speciality theme and runs on a two year rolling programme. The days are a mixture of interactive lectures, round table discussions and structured simulation sessions. Speakers range from sub-speciality tertiary consultants to general paediatricians, registrars and allied health and social care professionals.
Attendance The attendance list is sent to the Deanery and apologies are to be sent in advance to firstname.lastname@example.org if for any reason you cannot attend. Where possible, please do so at least a week in advance and via email (e.g. rota clashes). If short notice (emergency/sickness) please let a colleague know (so we don't worry about you!) and follow up with an email as above for formal record.
Please note that attendance is monitored and is reviewed at ARCP. If you have any questions or concerns about your attendance, please contact Dr Grainger-Allen or Dr Hawkinsas soon as possible.
Parking In PREP 1.2 all sessions are within Southampton General Hospital. If you require discount parking for the day it is your responsibility to email the trainee lead organising that day a minimum of 7 days before the event. Park in the normal visitor areas & we will then provide you with a discount ticket for use on exit.
